Module 1: Monitoring Herd Performance and Record Interpretation
This module will emphasize the critical role of record keeping, data analysis and monitoring on dairy production success.
General Objective: To be comfortable using farm data to measure current performance and identify opportunities for change
Learning Objectives:
- To understand and be critical of the inherent characteristics of farm data
- To understand the qualities of a desirable outcome for monitoring
- To apply the principles of monitoring to key areas on a dairy including production, udder health, transition management and reproduction
- To recognize the limitations of monitoring and opportunities for monitoring breakdown
- To apply systematic monitoring to herds within your own practice to begin implementing record analysis as part of services offered
